To the east, a few kilometers from Al Hoceima, there are the beaches of Cala Bonita, Plage Isly and Plage Asfiha. From here you can admire the “Alhucemas” islands located about 50/200 meters from the coast and made up of two uninhabited islets “Isla de Tierra” and “Isla de Mar” and the “Peñón de Alhucemas”. Curious is the history of these islands in the Mediterranean; in 1559 the sultan Moulay ‘Abdullah al Ghlib Billah ceded the Alhucemas islands to Philip II of Spain in exchange for assistance in the fight against the Ottoman Empire, from that moment the Spanish presence on the island has not had interruptions. Even now the islands, claimed by Morocco due to their geographical belonging to Africa, are to all intents and purposes Spanish.
