Azrou and Cedar Forests
This excursion begins after breakfast. Azrou is an important Berber town located in the Middle Atlas. The town is well known for its surrounding cedar forests. Azrou has a population of about 50,000 inhabitants. The most famous tree in these woods is the Gouraud Cedar, the largest ancient cedar in the region, which unfortunately died a few years ago due to a processionary caterpillar invasion. Very close to the Gouraud Cedar, you can find souvenirs, drinks, and peanuts to feed the Barbary macaques living in the area. You can also visit the small medina, where shops and workshops sell wood and carpets. In the afternoon, return to Fes.
