Day 1 : Arrival in Marrakech
Transfer from the airport to the riad according to your arrival time. (If you arrive in the morning there is time to visit the city already on the first day, otherwise the actual visit of the city is postponed until the return to Marrakech at the end of the tour) Dinner in a typical restaurant and Accommodation in a Riad with a swimming pool.
Day 2 : Marrakech / Meknes
In the morning, after breakfast, departure from Marrakech to Meknes, the smallest of the imperial cities. The visit of this city will begin by crossing Bab Mansour, the most important and remarkable of the gates of Meknes. From here to the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, where appropriate attire is required. From here to the granaries Hri Moulay Ismail; this grain depot is the most important monument of the imperial city, built with walls of beaten clay mixed with stones and straw (pisé). Day 3 : Meknes / Volubulis/ Fez
After breakfast departure from Meknes towards Fes to visit the old city of Fes (Fes el-Bali) and its medina, the largest and most famous in the entire Arab world, entering from the Bab Boujloud, the most famous gate and heading towards Dar Batha , a Hispanic-Moorish building that houses a beautiful museum of popular art, then continuing with a visit to the Bou Inania madrasa, the Koranic school of Fes, where young people studied the Koran in rooms, an oratory and a magnificent patio. dinner in a local restaurant, accommodation in a hotel with swimming pool.
Day 4 : Fes /Ifrane/Azrou/Midelt – Merzouga
After breakfast we will leave for Ifrane, an exceptional site at 1650m, nicknamed the ”Switzerland of Morocco” where you can admire the storks that nest on the roofs of the houses. Then we will take a walk in Ifrane and then we will leave in the direction of Merzouga, in the Sahara desert. The first village we meet along the way is Azrou, of Berber origin, located in the heart of a 53,000-hectare natural park on a limestone plateau bordered by cedar and holm oak forests, in the midst of ancient volcanoes. Azrou is also very famous for the presence of many monkeys in the forest that surrounds it. We will then take the road that climbs the Middle Atlas up to the Zad pass and the town of Midelt at an altitude of 1488m.
Midelt is not a particularly touristic place but famous from a geological point of view with colorful and amazing crystalline structures. From Midelt the road continues through the beautiful Ziz gorges until it reaches Er-Rachidia, in the southern province. We then arrive in Rissani, the gateway to the desert and from here to Merzouga in the late afternoon, to settle in a typical riad with a swimming pool, before sunset which can be admired from the nearby dunes of Erg Chebbi by taking a walk. typical dinner in front of the fire and to the rhythm of drums and songs of the Berber, Tuareg and southern Morocco populations. Day 5 : Merzouga Tour
After breakfast and a refreshing dip in the pool we will take the car for a tour to the caves where the natural fossils of the desert are found, then we will pass through the small and ancient village of Tissrdmin where many films have been shot, taking the road where the Paris Dakar rally also passes and we pass through the black desert with its volcanic stones where we will have tea with a Tuareg family. We then arrive at the village of Kamlia, famous for its inhabitants from black Africa and for their music. This village is also very famous for the music and dance festival which takes place every year during the first week of August. From here we will go to see Dayet Srji lake with its pink flamingos.
We will then return to Rissani where we will eat Berber pizza with its 44 spices with a Tuareg family, with whom we will learn about traditions, customs and traditions and we will be shown the objects that arrive here with the caravans. Rissani was once the economic capital of Morocco and the center of caravans leaving for the desert. We will then visit the Kasbahs of this town. We will then return to the hotel to relax before taking the camels. This journey begins after a relaxing lunch (depending on the time of your arrival). Day 6 : Merzouga/ Todra Gorges/ Dadés Valley
Wake up early in the morning to see the sunrise and the different colors of the dunes compared to the sunset. You will then return to the hotel on camel back where, after a shower and breakfast, we will resume the tour in the south. We will take the road to the Todra gorges, where the film Lawrence of Arabia was filmed, among the most beautiful in southern Morocco.
Here we will also stop for lunch and from here towards Boumalne Dadès from where the 25 km long valley of the same name begins which reaches the gorges, where we will take a walk in the midst of luxuriant and verdant vegetation in contrast with the surrounding red rock, and where the pisé constructions take on the same color as the rocks. Along this valley there is a succession of ksours, in the heart of cultivated fields and fruit orchards. From here, continue on to the Dadés gorges. Here we will stop to spend the night in a typical hotel and to have dinner.
Day 7 : Gorges of Dadés/Valley of Roses/ Ouarzazate
After breakfast we continue to the valley of roses, taking the road of the 1000 kasbahs, the typical constructions of southern Morocco. We will make a stop in the main city of this valley, El-Kalaa M’Gouna, famous precisely for the flowering of this flower from which many body care products are obtained. We will also visit a laboratory for the extraction of this precious essence. From here we will head towards Skoura to visit the kasbahs of this area and stop for lunch. From here we will go to Ouarzazate to visit the largest and most famous film studios in all of Africa, the Atlas Studios, where films such as Gladiator were filmed and then the Kasbah of Taourirt also in Ouarzazate.
We will then continue to the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Here you can visit this famous kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and which was the setting for the filming of films such as Gladiator, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia, The Legionnaire, Tea in the Desert and many more. Day 8 : Ouarzazate/ the Ouzoud waterfalls
After breakfast departure to visit the city of Ouarzazate: the Kasbah of Taourirt; film studios; the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. then you will take the road in the direction of Demnate, taking the Tizi-n-Outfi pass (2150m) which crosses the Middle Atlas mountains and the many Berber villages along the way. Here the landscape and the colors of the mountains change continuously even with the passage of time and therefore of the sunlight, from ochre, to pink, to red up to petroleum blue.
We will make a stop at Imi-n-Ifri, the mouth of the caves in Berber, where we will walk and take spectacular photographs. From here, always continuing to cross the Middle Atlas, you will arrive at the splendid Ouzoud waterfalls, 110 m high, considered one of the most beautiful places to visit in Morocco. Day 9 : Ouzoud Waterfalls / Essaouira
After breakfast we will leave for Essaouira Crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains 4 hours by road We arrive in Essaouira and leave directly to the hotel to leave our suitcases and go for a walk. For those who wish, in the afternoon it is possible to have a traditional hammam and/or a massage with argan oil. After a journey of about 3 hours you will arrive in the other splendid town of Essaouira, directly overlooking the sea, where you will breathe the exceptional atmosphere of a city of art which has prompted many foreign artists to move here, even permanently. Day 10/11/12/13 : Essaouira
The visit of the ancient city of Mogador, this was the old name of Essaouira, will start from the port, mainly dedicated to fishing, and one of the liveliest places in the city, and then you will arrive at the city itself through the port of the Marina and the Sqala of the port, from where you can access through a staircase to the upper part of the walls and continuing to the Sqala della Casba. We will then take a tour through the souk and the market getting lost in a maze of narrow streets.
The afternoon will be free to go to the beach or take a walk along the beach if the wind is too strong. The beach is splendid and stretches as far as the eye can see. Day 14 : Essaouira – Marrakech
