Excursion to Azrou and the Cedar Forests with ZagoraExperience 2025
This excursion starts after breakfast and will take you to Azrou, a Berber town located in the heart of the Middle Atlas. Azrou is famous for its cedar forests, which surround the town and house the famous Gouraud Cedar, one of the largest and oldest cedars in the region. Unfortunately, the Gouraud Cedar recently died due to a processionary caterpillar invasion. Azrou, with a population of around 50,000, is also known for its numerous Barbary macaques, which live in the surrounding forests. Near the Gouraud Cedar area, you can find small shops selling souvenirs, drinks, and peanuts to feed the monkeys. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Azrou’s small medina, where you’ll find shops selling wood and traditional carpets.
In the afternoon, you will return to Fes.
